For many of us, failure at work can be tough to swallow. It's never fun to feel your time, sweat, passion, and elbow grease were all for nothing. But, not only is failure a part of life, it's one of the best ways to learn, grow, and improve. In May's Nonprofit Lab, come hear Sabrina Hersi Issa, CEO of Be Bold Media, speak about how to use failure to spark innovation and success.

SPEAKER: Sabrina Hersi Issa, CEO, Be Bold Media


Sabrina Hersi Issa is an award-winning technologist focused on global advocacy and media innovation. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Be Bold Media, a digital agency focused on global advocacy and the co-founder of End Famine, a campaign dedicated to developing sustainable solutions to hunger, food security and humanitarian assistance. Sabrina leads Survivor Fund, a political fund dedicated to supporting the rights of survivors of sexualized violence and organizes Rights x Tech. Previously, Sabrina was a fellow at the Roosevelt Institute where she worked on issues related to technology, human rights and humanitarian disasters. She began her career in international journalism and has worked for Afghans for Civil Society, Oxfam America, NBC News and National Public Radio. She writes regularly about politics and human rights for The Guardian.

Sabrina was named to Ebony Magazine’s Power 100 list of the country’s most powerful black Americans, she was one of Forbes Magazine Top 30 under 30 list for Law & Policy and Washingtonian Magazine named her a Woman to Watch as part of it’s annual Most Powerful Women issue. Sabrina sits on the board of directors of Exhale Pro-Voice, NARAL Pro-Choice America and the Project on Middle East Democracy.



Nonprofit Lab is an informal, monthly gathering of nonprofit marketers, activists, and do-gooders. These free, monthly events feature a small talk on a special topic in the nonprofit space, followed by delicious drinks, snacks, and one-of-a-kind networking.
